  of granite toward the beginning. Amazing  volcanic formations (hoo-d
 oos) beyond that. The wildflowers were in full display. Very few mosqu
 itoes. Nick, Jackie & Eric walked at least one mile beyond the 6-mile 
 turn-around point. We met Josh Garrett, the Vegan Hiker doing the PCT.
