Weather: Sunny and 59 degrees.
Trail head: Mitchell Canyon park entrance.
Land Status: Mount Diablo State Park.
Fee: $6.00/car.
Elevation: 580' at the trail head, 2946' on Mt. Olympia, highest point was 3325' for a 2745' elevation change.
Mileage: Between 10 and 12 mile loops depending on which return trails we took.
Trails: Coulter Pine, Back Creek, Tick Wood, Cardinet Oaks, Olympia, Zippe, East, North Peak, Bald Ridge and Back Creek.
Difficulty: Strenuous because of the almost 3000' elevation change and the mileage.
Dinner: The Guadalajara Grill in Clayton.
Participants: (7) Dale, Valerie, Jennifer, Jeanette, Rachel dC, Steve & Becky.
Notes: This was a long hike on a short day. We returned after dark on three different trails. Valerie, Dale & Jennifer did 11 - 12 miles. The walkie-talkies were useful. Dinner was very nice at the Guadalajara Grill.
