Event Description

Trail head: Curry Village parking lot in Yosemite Valley.Fee: $20 per car park entrance fee or annual pass.
No dogs on this one.
Weather: Clear, low seventies.
Description: 8.6 mile strenuous loop up the Mist Trail to the top of Nevada Falls and down the John Muir Trail, but a rock slide on the John Muir caused a detour back down the Mist trail which shortened the hike to 7.4 miles for most of us.
Elevation: 4000 ft.at parking lot, 5900 ft at the top of Nevada Falls. We'll reach 6000 ft. on the John Muir Trail for a total elevation change of 2000 ft.
Dinner: Tailgate at the parking lot.

Notes: The rock slide on the John Muir Trail between the Clark Point cut-off and the Mist Trail at the river had originally occurred very early in the morning. There was still movement when they decided to close the trail AFTER Stefanie had already gone through. I don't know if Tracy & Debbie were in the same situation.
