Trail Head: Gianelli Cabin at the end of Crabtree Road.

Land Status: Emigrant Wilderness/ Stanislaus National Forest

Weather: Mostly sunny, high sixties.

Mileage: 8.6 miles total, out and back to Chewing Gum Lake.

Elevation: 8600 ft. at the trail head and 9200 ft. at two high points for a 600 ft. elevation change.

Difficulty: Moderate.

Flora: Alpine Gentian.

Fee: None

Dinner: Pot luck at the trail head.

Notes: Zack injured his leg or foot somehow at Powell Lake. Howled horribly. No obvious injury. Enjoyed being center of attention, being bandaged and carried uphill by Dave for I don't know how long only to trot off on all fours when Dave finally put him down. Other canine news: Rocky rebuffed Stella's advances, hurt her feelings, but she still went back to him.
