Photo: Lower Young Lake & Mt. Conness form Ragged Peak Saddle.

Trail Head: Tuolumne Meadows Wilderness Permit Station, Dog Lake parking lot.

Weather: Thunder and eventually light refreshing rain.

Mileage: About 9.8 miles up and back.

Elevation: From 8800 ft. at the trail head to 10,500 ft. at the saddle makes a 1700 ft. elevation change.

Difficulty: Moderate to strenuous due to the length of the hike, elevation change and off trail.

Fauna: Marmot and dark gray White-tailed Jack Rabbit near the saddle.

Fee: Yosemite $20 entrance fee or annual pass.

Dinner: We pot lucked at the Tuolumne Meadows Stables.

Participants: (10) Kimberly Dawn, Patrick Wall, Barb Hayes, Ellie Zoslocki, Jane Cloud, Dan & Dora Robinson, Nick, Becky & Eric Teberg.

Notes: The thunder and clouds were awesome. Dingley Creek was magical. It finally started raining once Dan reached the saddle. I found a crystal a few hundred feet from the saddle.
