Trail head: Carson Pass north parking lot at the Meiss Lake trail head; PCT.
Weather: Sunny and 68 degrees.
Mileage: 10.6 mile out and back on the PCT and Tahoe Rim Trail.
Elevation: 8550 at the trail head. The high point of the hike is 8800 ft. at a pass called Carson Gap at the 1.4-mile marker, which divides the American River drainage from the Truckee.
Difficulty: Moderate 10.6 miles with 750 ft. elevation change.
Fees: None.
Dinner: Pot Luck at the trail head.
