Event Description

Photo: Bull Run Lake from Bobbie and Ralph's point of view; the unnamed peak.

Trail head: Stanislaus Meadows off of Hwy 4.

Land Status: Carson-Iceberg Wilderness.

Weather: Sunny and in the low seventies.

Moderate 7.2 mile up and back with a repeated 825 ft. elevation change.

Elevation: 7900 at the trail head, 8360 at the lake, 7535 at the creek crossing.

Fauna: Deer, Marmot, Pine Grosbeak, Mountain Garter Snake or Racer, Vivid Dancer Damselflies, and wild cows w/ cowbells. Female Mallard w/ ducklings and Canada Goose at Lake Alpine.

Dinner: Pot luck at Lake Alpine.

Notes: Lauren and Johnny were a joy to have on the trail and it was fun watching them swim in the lake. Jacques was hilarious trying to herd cows. Bobbie and Ralph added an unknown distance and 1000 ft. elevation gain by hiking up to the unnamed peak. Steven was a hero by driving down the 4X4 road to pick up the ladies and Johnny.
