Event Description

Photo: Steve is almost to the peak.

Photo Album #109.

Weather: Sunny with a high of 54 degrees. Windy at the peak.

Trail Head: Highland Lakes, seven miles south of Hwy 4 on Highland Lakes Road.

Fee: None.

Description: About 8 miles up and back, first south on Disaster Creek Trail, then east, off trail to the peak. Moderate to strenuous because of the loose volcanic rock, gravel and scree on the cross-country section.

Elevation: 8600 ft. at trail head. 10,036 at Arnot summit. 9640 ft. at the Saddle.

Dogs: Toots joined us.

Dinner: Snowshoe Brewing Company in Arnold.

Participants: (9) Kimberly Dawn, Steve Fotheringham, Debbie Gerhart, Teddie Matthews, Connie & Tom Metz, Stefanie Rochow, Nick and Becky Teberg.

Comments: I got my fall out of the way by tripping on a rock next to the car and falling flat on my face. Teddie, Stefanie, Steve and I bagged the peak. We met a substitute Michael at the top. Debbie and Nick waited at the saddle with Toots because she was in pain. Kimberly and Tom returned to the cars early with Connie because of her back pain. Dinner at the Snowshoe Brewing Company ranged from pretty good to damned awful.
