Photo: Tennessee Cove from Wolf Ridge by Nick.
Photo Album #171.
Weather: Sunny and 66 degrees. Breezy in the afternoon.
Trail head: Rodeo Beach parking off of Mitchell Road at Fort Cronkhite in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Plenty of overflow parking. Public restrooms at the trail head.
No fees.
Description: Moderate 8-mile loop from Rodeo Beach to Tennessee Cove with two 850 ft. elevation gains. Most of us did the dog-friendly 5.4-mile Rodeo Loop.
Carpooled and caravaned to arrive between 9:15 and 10:00.
Flora: Western Blue Eyed Grass, California Poppy, Checkerbloom, Star Lily, Cobweb Thistle, Catchfly, Goldfields, Milkmaids. Lots of non-natives like Sparaxis Tricolor and African Cornflag.
Fauna: Ravens, Hawks, Deer, Western Fence Lizard.
Dinner: We Trail-gated at the picnic area. It was sunny and windy.
Participants: (16) Jackie & Dave, Barb & Sam, Lynelle, Steve & Becky, Nick & Nina, Connie & Tom, Jeanette, Hugh, Monica, Christine, Sofia.
Canine: Rocky & Jacques.
Comments: Very beautiful and popular area with many other activies like surfing, cycling and ultra-marathon-running. Plenty of parking which was needed. Nina rode her bike from San Francisco which was smart because on the way back the tunnel was closed to car traffic but she got through it on her bike. It took the rest of us 1 hour and 20 minutes to get from Rodeo Beach to the highway via McCullough and Conzelman Roads.
