Event Description

Trail Head: Sunol Visitor's Center at Geary Rd.

Fees: When the kiosk is staffed, a $5 parking fee and $2 dog fee.

Weather: Sunny and about 70 degrees.

Elevation at trail head is 400 ft.

Difficulty: Moderate to strenuous 7.5 mile CW loop with a 1300 ft elevation gain and loss, utilizing Flag Hill Trail & Road, Vista Grande Road, Eagle View Trail, Cerro Este Road and Canyon View Road for the proposed hike. Otherwise, Cave Rocks Road, Hayfield Road & Indian Joe Creek Trail.

Flora: Paintbrush, Purple Owl's Clover, Lupine, California Poppies, Wallflower, Johnny Jump-Up, Butter-Cup, Hound's Tongue, Blue Dick, Morning Glory.

Dinner: Casa Orozco in Livermore.

Participants (15) Deborah Wygant, Kit Sparkman, Bobbie Ables-Smith, Stefanie Rochow, Gerry Fait, Rachel de Carlo, Steve Fotheringham, Kimberly Dawn, Jeanette Farley, Barb Hayes, Jillian Bauer, Danny Pidutti, Nick, Eric & Becky Teberg.

Canine: (3) Jacques, Hippo & Blake.

Notes: The weather was beautiful and the wildflowers were blooming. Only Stefanie & Nick completed the proposed hike. Most of us did about 6.1 miles although Gerry & Rachel got lost and did a lot more. We never did see Jillian & Danny. And Deborah tripped and fell, requiring an emergency room visit and 13 stitches on the lip.

But, some of the female employees from work are doing a snowshoeing day. Sorry I will miss you this time. If nothing happens or comes up, I have plans to join you on the 30th. Kathy
