Event Description

Weather: Sunny and breezy with a high of 74 degrees.

Trail head and parking: County Line parking lot at the end of dirt road 6N06 off of Clark Fork road off of Hwy 108.

Fees: None.

Through Hike: Moderate 11.1-mile up and back through the Dardanelles to the Arnot Creek trail head. Partial cross-country.

Dardanelle Peak-bagging route: Strenuous 9.25-mile, mostly cross-country, ending at Clark Fork Road via Little Teton Creek.  

Flora: Elegant Sunburst & Golden Cobblestone Lichen, Checkerbloom, Green Rein Orchid, Low Polemonium, Fringed Pinesap, Snowplant, Spotted Coralroot, Mountain Pride, Yellow Paintbrush, Sierra Stickseed, Woolly Sunflower, Sculptured Puffball, Granite Gilia, Sierra Daisy, Leichtlin's Mariposa Lily, Mustang Clover, Sierra Lewisia, Scarlet Gilia, Elegant Rock Cress, Slenderleaf Collomia, Lambstongue Ragwort, Pretty Face, Arrowleaf Balsamroot, Woolly Mule's Ears, Showy Penstemon, Dusty Maidens, Torrey's Blue-eyed Mary, Applegate's Paintbrush, Bolander's Locoweed, Hoary Aster.

Fauna: Black-tailed Deer.

Dinner: Burritos at the Clark Fork Campground camp sites.

Canine: (2) Jacques & Rocky.

Comments: Several folks did a variety of the out & back version. Six of us did the long, but moderate thru-hike. Nick, Nina, Don, Dave and Ralph bagged Dardanelle Peak and descended through "Manzanita Hell". The walkie-talkies were life-savers on this hike. Dinner was delicious.

I would love to join you camping Friday evening if that is a possibility. I have been itching to break out my camp gear :)
