Event Description
Photo: Half Dome from Ostrander trail.

Weather: Thunder and rain. High of 54.
Trail head & Parking: Ostrander Lake trail head off of Glacier Point Road. Large dirt parking lot. Elevation: 7000 ft.
Fee: $30 park entrance fee or pass.
Description: Easy, then moderate 12.4 mile out and back with a 1600 ft elevation gain and loss.
Flora: Snowplant, Monkeyflower, Jewel Flower, Stickseed, Sierra Gooseberry, Sierra Stonecrop, Pussytoes, Waterleaf Phacelia.
Fauna: Juvenile Male Western Tanager.
Dinner: Wet snacks at the trail head. Dinner at Café Bravo in Oakdale.

Comments: Wonderful claps of thunder and steady rain on the return hike. Beautiful views of Yosemite's landmarks from the south.
