Event Description

Weather: About 77 degrees in the beginning and thunderstorms and a little rain in the afternoon.

Trail Head: The Dog Lake parking lot near the Tuolumne Meadows Ranger Station.

Fee: $20 YNP entrance fee or annual pass.

Description: Moderate to strenuous 10-Mile up and back, partial cross-country. Hike to Dog Lake, Delaney Meadow and beyond to Dingley Creek. Hike off trail to the head of Dingley Creek and lunch on the alpine meadow. Continue off-trail to Ragged Peak Saddle for the view of Mt. Conness and Young Lakes.

Elevation: 8700 ft. at the parking lot, 10,500 ft. at the saddle. 

Flora: Bush Lupine, Paintbrush, Monkeyflower, Little Elephant's Head.

Dinner: Cocina Michoacan in Groveland.

Comments: Ralph, Jackie, Don, Michael & Stefanie bagged Ragged Peak. Ralph, Bobbie and Don backpacked over Ragged Peak Saddle and camped at Lower Young Lake.The Dingley and Ragged Peak Plateaus were green and full of wildflowers. The light rain from the afternoon thunderstorms was refreshing.
