Trip Notes - YNP: Obata Lake

Weather: Mostly sunny & 68 degrees.

The lake was named by Ted Muller of Ted's Outdoor World for Artist Chiura Obata.

Description: 8-mile moderately-strenuous semi-loop to Elizabeth Lake and Obata Lake. 1/3 of the hike is off trail. 1840 elevation change.

Land Status: National Park.

Trail Head: Elizabeth Lake trail head, Tuolumne Meadows Campground Road off of Tioga Road in Tuolumne Meadows.

Yosemite Park entrance fee.

Flora: Mountain Heather.

Fauna: Small buck.

Dinner: Pot-lucked at the trail head.

Participants: (12) Barb Hayes, La Verne Self, Jackie Lederle, Rachel & Cody Golding, Ken Keith, Yasuhiro Hariu, Tereza Urbischova, Magdalena Fiuraskova, Nick, Eric & Becky Teberg.

Comments: The Little Yosemite Valley wildfire was winding down so the skies were not clear. Yasu of the South Bay and Magdalena & Tereza of the Czech Republic joined us at Elizabeth Lake and stayed for after-hike snacks.
