Trail Head: 1/4 mile north of Forest Road junction on Big Oak Flat Rd.
Fee: $20/car, Annual Pass or Geezer Pass.
Elevation: About 4850 ft at the trail head with a 1300 ft. elevation gain.
Description: Moderate 8-mile up and back to the bridge at Cascade Creek above the falls.
Features: Passing through the 1990 A-Rock wildfire burn and two creek crossings.
Flora: Ponderosa Pine, Snow Plant and an unidentified plant with purple basal leaves.
Dinner: Cocina Michoacana in Groveland.
Participants: (16) Tom & Connie Metz, Tracy Crowley, Nina Shah, Hemant Furia, Donnie Staal, Barb Hayes, Stefanie Rochow, Chris Ruffin, Shane Graff, Steve Fotheringham, Jackie & Dave Lederle, Nick, Eric & Beck Teberg.
Notes: We had the trail to ourselves. The views were beautiful, the creek-crossings were just scary enough. A disappointing lack of snow on the high mountains. About 3 weeks too early for wildflowers. We welcomed Hemant to the Sierras. Good food and service at the Cocina but Eric had some bad luck.

Bummed we can't make this hike because of the neighbors twins B-day (1 year old). Planning on making the next hike with baby Elizabeth!!
You all have a great time. I'm doing a lot better...just a couple of small scars. It should be beautiful at this time of year!
