Photo: The group at Corcoran Mine Trail and Stewartville Trail junction.
Trail Head: The end of Somersville Rd. in Black Diamond Mine Regional Preserve.
Fee: $5.00/car and $2.00/dog but only when the kiosk is occupied. It was vacant.
Weather: Full sun, about 55 degrees and windy!
Elevation: 724 at trail head. The lowest was 450 and the highest was 1280 for an elevation change of 830 ft.
Mileage: Combining Stewartville and Ridge, then backtracking Ridge to rejoin Stewartville and the Corcoran Mine trail, a jaunt out to Prospect Tunnel then back to the trail head via Stewartville, made 7.2 miles. A quick trip up to Rose Hill Cemetery added .9 for 8.1 miles.
Fauna: Ground Squirrels and cows.
Dinner: Taqueria Salsa in Antioch which was unremarkable except Jeanette's meal took forever and they do not offer fish tacos. The hot salsa was good.
Participants: (11) Jill John, Rich Todd, Nick Teberg, Kimberly Dawn, Jackie Lederle, Steven Fotheringham, Debbie Gerhart, Jeanette Farley, Eric Teberg, Keith Allen, Becky Teberg.
Canine: (2) Rocky & Jacques.
Notes: Too windy, but there were some nice uphill climbs and the sun felt good. The hike was fraught with historical goodies.
