Description: 7.5 mile moderate loop. The first mile was strenuous with a 1000 foot elevation gain. The total elevation change was 1360 ft.
Trail head: The Sprig Recreation Area, a right turn 4.8 miles west of Gilroy off of Hwy 152.
Weather: Chilly and overcast at the trail head, sunny and about 70 degrees.
Fauna: A turkey vulture warming his wings or flashing the hwy 101 corridor. Captive white fallow deer at the Hilltop visitors center.
Dinner: Super Taqueria (the old one) in Gilroy.

Remarks: Interesting rock wall ruins of the Miller mansion and an abundance of tree varieties. .
