Event Description

Photo: Harold the Gull on top of Arch Rock.

Trail Head: Bear Valley Visitor Center near Olema.

Description: Easy 8.9 mile out and back from Bear Valley to Arch Rock at the beach. Added 1 mile Earthquake Loop.

Elevation change was only about 400 ft.

Weather: Low sixties and foggy to high sixties, sunny and breezy at the ocean.

Fees: None.

Fauna: Harold the Gull, lots of quail and deer near the visitors center. Bobbie spotted a snake.

Dinner: Pot luck at Jackie & Dave's campsite in Olema. Barb's Turkey Chili was most popular.

Participants: (12+1) Steven Fotheringham, Jeanette Farley, Tiffany Brinkman, Bobbie Ables-Smith, Tom & Connie Metz, Kimberly Dawn, Barb Hayes, Jackie & Dave Lederle, Nick & Becky Teberg, and camping neighbor Claire from Maine.

Notes: Campers Jackie, Dave, Nick, Barb and Claire biked most of the way out to the Arch. The rest of us finished the hike by 3PM and enjoyed the food, campfire and Claire's remarkable Airstream.
