Trip Notes - YNP: North Dome

Trail head: Porcupine Creek at Tioga Road.

Weather: Partly Cloudy and around 80 degrees. Thunderstorms forming to the east.

Fee: $20/ car park entrance fee.

Elevation: Trail head - 8130 ft. North Dome - 7542 ft..

Mileage: Between 8.0 and 10.5 miles. Some took the Indian Rock side trip.

Difficulty: Moderate, but return trip is mostly uphill.

Fauna: Deer, Golden Mantel Ground Squirrels.

Dinner: Splendid pot luck on the bear boxes after the hike.

Notes: This hike felt hotter than it really was which made the return uphill trek more difficult. Some of us ran out of water. North Dome is rather narrow and somewhat crowded although the trail was not.

Funniest backpack: John's chair carrier.

Favorite quote was made by Dave on North Dome referring to Jackie who had elected to stay up on Indian Ridge: "She has John's chair and Lisa is with her, but she has no beer!"
