Trip Notes - Sonora Pass to Leavitt Peak

Weather: Sunny and 67 degrees becoming overcast. Very comfortable.

Description:  Strenuous 11.6 total miles up and back. All on the PCT except off trail the last mile to the summit. Ralph's and Dan's GPS's measured 12 and 13 miles, respectively. Some of us only did 7.8 miles.

Elevation Gain:  1842 feet.

Trail head:  Sonora Pass day use parking lot.

Trail head Elevation:  9628 feet

Summit Elevation:  11570 feet.

Fees:  None.

Flora: Showy Penstemon, Wooly Mules Ears, Pennyroyal, Ballhead Gilia, Dwarf Alpinegold, Prairie Smoke and rare Alpine Dusty Maiden.

Dinner: Snacks and refreshments at the trail head.

Notes: Extraordinary minute wildflowers, tiny geodes, other rocks and amazing vistas. We met colorful ultrarunner Catra Corbett on the trail.
