Weather: Sunny and 48 degrees.
Trail Head: Parking lot on Tioga Rd., 1.3 miles east of Tioga Pass, south side.
Description: Moderate 8 to 9 mile partial off-trail loop starting at The Great Sierra Wagon Trail. Cross-country from Maul Lake to the Carnegie Institute Experimental Station, returning on Saddlebag and Tioga Roads.
Fee: none, this time.
Dinner: Cocina Michoacana in Groveland.
Dogs: Tony joined us.

Comments: This was the second time this year that we used Spuller Lake Loop as a back-up hike. The first because of high heat at lower elevations and this time because the government shutdown that closed Yosemite Park. The snow, rocks and views make this a spectacular hike. Stefanie and Dan walked the extra mile to fetch the cars.
